Testing Services
Product and material testing is an essential step in ensuring both quality assurance and regulatory compliance, which will help you avoid product recalls, product failures or non-compliance. Our specialized laboratory services can assist you by highlighting changes required to mitigate defects or compliance issues early, in order to avoid costly product recalls or fines.
Our product and material testing services include:
Materials Testing
Effective materials testing is essential, whether you’re verifying material properties for application trials, detecting defects, analyzing failures, improving new materials, or conducting basic research on the theoretical strength of materials.
Our materials testing laboratory is accredited by CYSAB in accordance with EN 17025 standards and specializes in testing the physical and mechanical properties, as well as the chemical identification, of materials and products used in the construction and building industry.
Failure Analysis
If your product, component, or asset fails or underperforms, failure analysis can identify the root cause of the problem. Our findings provide you with actionable insights to address the issue, implement solutions, and prevent future occurrences.
Our team of engineers, technicians, and inspectors are experts across industries, including mechanical and electrical engineering, material science, non-destructive testing, industrial forensics, energy generation, and construction.
We offer a wide range of solutions, tailored to your needs, from straightforward assessments to complex investigations such as:
- Analyzing failed engineering components
- Investigating rotating machinery failures (e.g., turbines and engines)
- Mechanical failure analysis of heavy equipment (cranes, lifts, excavation tools)
- Conducting forensic investigations for machinery, refineries, pipelines, and petrochemical facilities
- Identifying causes of boiler tube failures, explosions, and water losses in power plants
- Determining why materials like metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites fail
- Addressing contamination issues
- Integrating operations data with microscale and microstructure analysis
Whether you need a basic failure analysis or a comprehensive investigation with consultancy, advanced laboratory testing, and multidisciplinary expertise, we adapt our approach to meet your unique requirements.
Control & Safety Valve Testing
As a designated Notified Body, Nortest offers accredited testing and conformity assessment services for control and safety valves in accordance with international directives and standards, including PED 2014/68/EU, ASME, API, and ISO requirements.
Our testing protocols ensure valves perform reliably under all specified operating conditions. We conduct functional testing, set pressure verification, leak rate measurements, and response time analysis for spring-loaded, pilot-operated, and modulating valves. All testing is performed using calibrated equipment in controlled environments, with full traceability and compliance documentation.
Our services are essential for industries where valve performance is critical to operational safety—such as oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, and process industries.
Vibration Testing
Our industrial vibration analysis services help prevent malfunctions and unplanned downtime by detecting even the smallest performance deviations in your rotating equipment.
Key Benefits
- Consistent Quality
Vibration monitoring ensures that rotating equipment operates optimally, maintaining consistent product quality.
- Extended Equipment Lifespan
Identifying vibration abnormalities early enables timely repairs, preventing failures and extending machinery life.
- Proactive, Not Reactive
Optimize maintenance schedules and resource allocation while improving spare parts inventory management.
Condition monitoring through vibration analysis is a powerful tool for predictive maintenance of rotating equipment, such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and machine tools. By measuring and analyzing vibration data from critical components, early signs of failure can be detected and addressed before they cause costly damage or downtime.
While vibration monitoring requires an upfront investment, it significantly reduces long-term costs compared to repairing or replacing failed machinery.
Remote Monitoring for Better Uptime
Our remote vibration monitoring services proactively identify quality issues and prevent breakdowns. By tracking changes over time, we help you anticipate when components like shafts, couplings, and bearings need replacement. Let our expert technicians improve your uptime and operational efficiency.
Common Applications of Vibration Analysis
- Bearing wear detection
- Misalignment or imbalance identification
- Monitoring rotating machinery performance
- Ensuring structural integrity
- Optional Maintenance and Parts Support
Textile testing
Nortest is a trusted inspection and certification provider offering specialized textile testing services. Our comprehensive testing solutions are designed to evaluate the quality, durability, and performance of textile materials, ensuring they meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Using advanced equipment and expert analysis, our company provides accurate results for a wide range of textiles, from raw materials to finished products.
Whether for quality control, compliance, or product development, Nortest textile testing services ensure that clients maintain high-quality standards and deliver reliable, safe products to the market.
Load testing
Our load testing solutions are designed to assess the strength, durability, and safety of structures, equipment, and systems under various load conditions.
Using advanced technology and precise methodologies, Nortest ensures accurate and reliable results to verify compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Whether for cranes, lifting equipment, or structural integrity assessments, the company’s load testing services help clients maintain operational safety and avoid costly failures.
Replica Analysis
When constructing and operating a plant, facility, or equipment, the material properties and quality are critical factors to consider. Over time, materials are subjected to environmental influences and stress, making it essential for manufacturers and operators to understand the strength, quality, and remaining lifespan of the materials used, as well as detect potential or existing damage.
Whether verifying a product’s quality and durability, optimizing material selection, assessing damage in a structure, or estimating the remaining lifespan of components or equipment, Nortest provides a wide range of metallographic examination and replica testing services.
Our experts conduct non-destructive microstructure analysis on-site using the replica testing technique, offering direct evaluation of creep damage or remaining service life. This technique, also known as in-situ metallography, involves reproducing the surface microstructure of a metal, through an imprinted foil, which is then analysed under a microscope. It enables experts to detect creep damage and estimate the remaining service life of equipment. On-site hardness testing, including on welds, can also be conducted.
Electrical and PAT testing
Regular inspections are essential for maintaining the safety and functionality of the electrical appliances in both your home and workplace. Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is a process that assesses the safety of electrical appliances and equipment, helping to prevent potential electrical hazards. Although PAT testing may seem simple, its significance is critical, particularly when it comes to safeguarding individuals and extending the lifespan of your appliances.
Nortest, through its group of experts, provides visual and thorough inspection of your equipment using specialized PAT testing equipment. Following a successful inspection, the appliance is labelled with a pass sticker, and details of the test are recorded.
Environmental testing
Our testing solutions are designed to assess a wide range of environmental factors, including air quality and noise levels, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
Using state-of-the-art equipment and expert analysis, Nortest delivers accurate, reliable results that help clients minimize their environmental impact, improve sustainability, and maintain regulatory compliance.
Whether for industrial sites, construction projects, or environmental monitoring, the company’s environmental testing services provide the data needed to make informed decisions.
